Clark is named after pioneer and farmer Richard Calhoun Clark, who came to the area with his family as Peters Colonists in 1845 and settled near the Shawnee Trail in the White Rock Creek Area. After the death of Clark's father, he and his two brothers were taken in by Captain R.W. Carpenter. Clark later served during the Civil War.
The construction of Clark High School had been completed by 1979 for the cost of $5 million.
